Behavioral Health Work Team
BHWT Charter Statement:
Collaboratively, the Behavioral Health Work Team will contribute
to the improvement of the:
- Mental / behavioral health of the public; and
- Behavioral health services;
by augmenting existing and/or developing new programs (e.g.
behavioral health promotion, education and pilot projects) that
will strive to make significant, measurable impact to the
community.

Focus Areas
- Explore creation of effective collaborative interventions with
involved agencies to reduce inappropriate use of Emergency
Departments (ED) by high utilizers with behavioral health
issues;
- Advocate for improved coordination between mental and physical
health services and identify one action where we could facilitate
improvements at the "margins"; coordinate with Healthy Families
& other organizations efforts in this area;
- Edify & support BHWT partners by providing a forum for
information gathering and sharing along with opportunities for
collaboration.
Sub-Committee Focus Areas:
Independent Living
Association: The Independent Living
Association supports and promotes high quality Independent Livings
in San Diego County. Visit the ILA Website (www.ilasd.org) for tools
and resources about Independent Livings and other supportive
housing, and a searchable database of Independent Livings in San
Diego County.
Depression
Screening: The Community Health Improvement
Partners' (CHIP) Behavioral Health Work Team is collaborating with
other San Diego County organizations, to offer free information and
depression screenings during San Diego Depression
Screening Week, October 1-7,
2012. During this week, residents of San Diego County over the
age of 18 will have the opportunity to visit designated sites to
receive a free, anonymous, depression screening, and learn about
the signs and symptoms of depression, anxiety disorder, postpartum
depression and other topics related to depression.
HELP
Connection: A Roadmap to Behavioral Health
Services: Help Connection is now
available!! Many times when we are dealing with the
stress of life situations and issues, it is difficult to identify
exactly what type of help is needed. While the main purpose
of Help Connection is to assist you in finding behavioral
health services, we have included information about other health
and social services that you may find helpful.

Meeting Information:
The BWHT meets monthly on the second Thursday of each month
from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at the new CHIP Offices (5095 Murphy Canyon
Road, Suite 105, San Diego, CA 92123). The full BHWT
Committee meets every other month and sub-committees meet on an as
needed basis.
